Homeless used as Hotspots at SXSW

During SXSW, a marketing firm known as BBH decided to give 13 homeless people T-shirts showing that they were 4G hotspots and gave them 4G hotspot devices.

The catch though, the 4G hot spots werent free.  You had to pay, via paypal to use the hotspot and you deisgnate which homeless person you wanted to connect to to pay them for it.  BBh says that any and all proceeds made for the hotspot usage will be paid out to the person that the money was paid to when someone connected to the hotspot and paid for it.  They even wore shirts that had their name(the homeless persons name) on it, and instructions on how to connect to their hotspot.

There is alot of backlash about it by almost everyone that was there.  People saying/tweeting how inhumane it is, how wrong it is to be doing that to homeless people.  I look at it this way.  They are down on bad times, and no one put a hotspot transmitter to their head forcing them to wear a shirt with their name on it so they knew who they are and how to connect to them.  They might have just approached them with the offer, and they accepted.  They are living out on the streets, no home, no income, so ofcourse, if someone apporoaches them and offers them a chance to make some money to go buy a hot meal, go get some clothes, they are going to take it.

From the pictures I have seen, the homeless didnt seem too, unhappy that they were just carrying around a 4G hotspot, wearing a shirt, and making money.  Put yourself in their situation, if you were homless and had no money, would you say no to a chance to make some money?  They (BBH), even went through the Austin homeless advocacy group named "Front Steps" to meet with the participants and get it organised. I think it would only be exploiting them if they forced them into doing it.  This also gives the homeless people a chance to be in the spotlight, let people see their stories, talk to them, learn the situations and the hardships they have to go through.

All in all, as some people bash this idea, I think it was a interesting idea, aslong as BBH holds up their end and the homeless get the money that is owed to them.

Unreal Engine 3 in a Flash Enviroment

Epic Games probably just changed flash gaming. The Unreal Engine 3 is now usable in Adobe Flash. I have spent a little bit of time with it and all I have to say is it looks GREAT. It runs smooth and the possibilites with this engine in a flash enviroment is endless. MMOs through flash, FPS games, and more are now more possible then ever with this engine if used right.

Want to check it out for yourself? Well, to do that, you will need to download Adobe Flash 11.2 from Adobe labs or you cvan follow this link to get it. Once you have it installed for the browser of your choice, you can then follow this link and enjoy "Epic Citadel" in your browser!

iPad HD is now the... iPad...

So now apple has decided to rename the next generation iPad, iPad.  Why? I have no idea, because now it is the name of the first iPad.  I actually prefer iPad 3 myself ince it is the next line of iPads, but apple has made up their mind and the new iPad will be rolling out soon I believe.

Keep checking back here incase apple decides to change the name, again.

(iPad 3 and iPad HD were all most likely rumored names, but they had to come out somewhere, so maybe apple really had those names in mind for it but just couldnt decide?)

iPad 3 is now the... iPad HD

That is right. Apple has changed the name of their new tablet from, what everyone thought was going to be iPad 3 (Only makes logical sense) to... iPad HD. It is still the same iPad the iPad 3 was going to be, but just a name change.

Some of the specs for the iPad HD is a higher resolution screen (2048 x 1536), more ram, a faster CPU and a faster GPU to handle all that HD goodness expected to come from this iPad. It is also said you will be able to wirelessly ransmit video from the iPad to a display/tv, have an SD card slot, and have 4G LTE (on Verizon and AT&T as of now) versions, along with a 3G and wifi version.

Why are they changing the name? I have no idea really, aside from it having an HD display. Atleast they didnt name it iPad 2s... I think the name shoulda been stuck to iPad 3, but what can you do.
